Strawberry Shoe Laces Please

Blog # 4, Day 7

What did I miss ?

Deena woke up this morning after pretty much being asleep since 5:30 AM Monday. The Whole Body Hyperthermia Treatment went well, and during the 6 hour process the Doctors managed to heat her body to the magic number, 107 F (42 C). Given Deena’s symptoms and medical history they gave her the strongest antibiotics they could find - hopefully they haven’t been lying around since WW2.

She really hasn’t eaten since Saturday night and the first food she requested this morning were Strawberry Shoe Laces….. go figure. She is also very keen to hop on the scales for a quick weigh in, no need for Ozempic in Bad Aibling !

Deena turned on her phone to the following:

She wants to stress that she’s not being rude and hasn’t died ! I did update her with what I thought were the top 3 news stories she had missed over the last 48 hours:

(1) France has a new Prime Minister, aged only 34. That’s 47 years younger then Biden
(2) Franz Beckenbauer died, one of the greatest ever footballers
(3) Michigan won the college football Championship.

She wasn’t impressed saying “didn’t miss much then”. Maybe this crowd could comment in the blog on the more relevant ’news’ that she has missed over the last couple of days.

The rest of the week is spent continuing to recuperate and attending numerous other procedures until Sunday, when she will repeat the Hyperthermia Treatment all over again.

As always, Deena is very grateful for all the well wishes.

Wow, Deena you are amazing. Firstly for going through this treatment and secondly for taking on a 54 year old ginger nurse with no previous experience! :)

Love Zoe and Archie x

Glad to hear of another day of progress.
Lauren, Lilly and Owen rooting for you from Chicago.

Latest news here is snow storms (surprise surprise), they have announced free entry to Chicago Zoos (unlikely to boost traffic given snow storms) and an amazing new restaurant adds to our local collection. We will be checking that out and reporting back.

Hang in their Deena. I just googled strawberry shoelaces. Ewww. Each to their own. Let's hope Marc isn't getting too familiar with the local frauleins. I actually had a German lady fall madly in love with me but that's a whole other story for another day. Sending you love from Mexico. x

Deena, hope you had pleasant dreams at 107F/42C. I wonder if the heat led to dreaming of Caribbean Islands, saunas, trips to the Hamptons or even Brighton Beach (the original one, not the one in New York!). Wishing you a good recovery. Michael (shivering at 1 degree C) x

To update on the news...

South Africa trying to take Israel to court for genocide... what's that all about, Russ?
I would suggest that's the pot calling the kettle black, but I'll probably get sued by South African government and taken to court!

Sven Goran Ulrika Johnson is on his way out, apparently - he's not well!

And word on the street is that there has been riots and looting in Papa New Guinea - so if you were planning a trip there soon, I would think of alternative destinations!

Love you guys and sending all our most positive thoughts and energy for the days ahead... and let us know when the cravings turn from Strawberry Laces to Strawberry Milkshake... probably need something cool and refreshing after all that tropical heat!!

Loving this blog Marc. Have you thought about writing a book??
Deena- I hope somehow you are enjoying the heat and the rest but ultimately that all this brings you the very best results.
I think most of the recent main news stories that you may have missed have been covered, except what Selina Gomez REALLY said to Taylor Swift!
Looking forward the next instalment and sending heaps of love, Debs xx
